The Breeze Newsletter for the week of September 22-26, 2014

Principal’s Message:

Have you experienced days at work where you’d like just to put on your coat and go home?! Over the last few weeks I must admit that I’ve had a few moments in which I was looking for my coat & car keys! In my 15 years of experience working in a school setting, the start of a year has never been riddled with more unexpected circumstances! To name a few: one foot of snow, 42 hour power/water outages, the cancellation of two days of school, the cancellation of school trips, dealing with “un-assigned” bus routes for 3 weeks (which means the bussing company could not place a driver in a route), a significant number of students missing valuable and necessary instructional hours within the first two weeks of the year, unexpected power surges in our circuitry (which essentially exploded our phone line/fax line, paging system/internet!), teacher and student absences due to illnesses, etc.

When unexpected and unwanted circumstances arise in our lives it is human to look for the door to escape! And yet, God gives us the choice to face our challenges with confidence that He will always provide – in His way and in His time. He longs for us to place our trust in Him and lean on His promises each time we face an unexpected circumstance! As I look back over the past three weeks, I am reminded that in each challenge, God worked things out in His time. In each circumstance, God demonstrated His faithfulness and His glory showed up!

As we enter a new week, I would invite you to join me in embracing some awesome promises from the word of God: “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you.” (Hebrews 13:5) “I’m doing what is best for you – training you to live God’s best.” (Hebrews 12:4-11) “I will put you together; I will provide you with everything you need to please me.” (Hebrews 13:21) “I started and finished the race.. follow me. You can do it!” (Hebrews 12:1) “Because Jesus was raised from the dead, I’ve been given a brand new life and have everything to live for! – Including a future in heaven, and the future starts now.  God is keeping careful watch over me and my future!” (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Have a fantastic week with Jesus!

NUT ALLERGIES: CWAA strives to be a nut free environment due to serious allergies of some students and staff.  Parents, please be vigilant to prevent any nuts from coming to school in your children’s lunches. If your child has an allergy, please also remind them not to share lunch items. Thank you!

ADVENTIST EDUCATION ONLINE SURVEY: Our children deserve to have a quality Adventist education to equip them for faithful service to God and humanity. In an effort to improve the quality of Adventist education for all our children, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada is holding an Education Summit from November 23-26, 2014. We value your input in this process, and therefore solicit your participation in this survey! The online survey runs from September 15 to October 3, 2014. It will take about 15 minutes of your time. Your input is critical. On September 15, please go to, click SURVEY, and enter ADVENTIST as the password to begin.

Chaplain’s Message

As you are hopefully aware, our spiritual theme at CWAA this school year is Thrive. We want students (and the rest of our school family) to be deeply rooted in a relationship with God and branching out in service and sharing to others! This week we have a great opportunity to reach out to serve those in need. Our Terry Fox Run will be taking place on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 24. The Terry Fox Foundation raises money to use for cancer research. My goal is for CWAA to raise $2500 toward this cause. If you would like to give toward this effort, please talk to your CWAA student or contact the CWAA office. May we be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve Him with joy!

“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’” (Matthew 25:40 NLT).
