The students will share their creativity and scientific knowledge with their peers.  This is our first time attending and we are excited to see all the projects.  We have students growing plants, working with dogs, corroding metal, making batteries, testing hair types, looking at the effects of music on learning, plants & activity level, and much more. Permission forms have been sent home and are to be returned by Wednesday, January 29.

ALBERTA EDUCATION ACCOUNTABILITY PILLER SURVEY – It’s that time of year where Alberta Education is seeking your input about the education we are delivering at CWAA! From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting its annual “Accountability Pillar Survey”. The Accountability Pillar Survey assesses various aspects of quality; student outcomes, provincial assessments of student learning, community engagement and satisfaction, school experience, etc. Within the next few weeks, all CWAA parents will receive a survey from Alberta Education in the mail. In February, CWAA students and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school.  All surveys are anonymous. In addition to English and French, the parent survey is available in Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish and Tagalog. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving at CWAA, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly. Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2014. Thank you for your participation in this important process!

CWAA HIRES A NEW EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROVIDER! We are pleased to announce that Ms. Ashley Bent will begin working at CWAA on Monday, January 27 – as both Kindergarten Educational Assistant and after School Care Provider.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE – We are pleased to once again be able to offer our families both Before and After School Care! Ms. Karen Schofield is our Before School Care provider and Ms. Ashley Bent is our After School Care provider. The hours of the Before School Care Program are 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. (Monday – Friday) and 3:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) and 1:45 – 3:15 p.m. (Friday). The cost of attending either morning or after school care is $5.00 per session. We ask that all interested families officially register their children in the program. (Please note: If an elementary student is left at CWAA unattended outside school hours, CWAA is obligated to provide supervision for that child until the parent arrives. Because CWAA must pay to provide such supervision, the parent will be charged accordingly.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be here from February 19 – 24, 2014.  I will need parent volunteers to help prepare decorations, set up/take down and run the book fair. The book fair has been a successful fundraiser for our school library over the past few years, last year we raised over $1700! That success would be impossible without our volunteers.  If you are interested in helping please email Katie Crews and let me know how/when you would like to help. Thank you!

Chaplain’s Message

We have the privilege of serving and worshipping an amazing God! He is just and yet merciful. He is faithful and loving! Even on those days when it may seem like just about everything is going wrong, we can know that God is there for us. Why not take some time today to thank Him for His love, forgiveness and care for you! You are a special person to God!

“Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love. Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean! You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.” (Micah 7:18–20 NLT).
