CWAA Breeze Newsletter November 2-6, 2015

Principal’s Message:

We have a busy month planned: week of prayer, anti-bullying awareness, Remembrance Day assembly, curriculum field trips, skating trips, athletic trips, secondary report cards, parent-teacher interviews, new program for Grade 1 (Roots of Empathy), high school career fair, seek & serve Sabbath, Fall Fun Fest, etc.! Many hours of planning will go into each and every one of these events. As we plan each event, we will be inviting God into every aspect of our planning.

It’s incredibly important to pray the right things over the plans that we make. The Word of God tells us in Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”  While it’s important that we take time to carefully devise a plan, we must also pray that God will direct each of our steps. Sometimes the steps that God directs aren’t even in our original plan. However, we can trust that He always knows best. And even when our plans change or the steps we take to achieve our plan are unexpected, God always brings all things together for His good! Check out the following important Scriptures that give us insight into how we can ask God to guide our plans:

  • Proverbs 21:5: “Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough.”
  • Mark 11:24: “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
  • Psalms 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Have a wonderful November!

In His Service,

Lara Melashenko

FUNDSCRIP GIFT CARD MISSION TRIP FUNDRAISER: March 2017 may sound like a long time from now. But it will go by fast! Plans are already being made for the 2017 CWAA Mission Trip. While we are not quit ready to share many of the specific details of the trip at this time, it is certainly a great time for students to begin fundraising! Our primary fundraiser is going to be selling gift cards through FundScrip. Basically, we sell gift cards at face value and then receive a percentage of that amount back from FundScrip to go toward the mission trip. You can buy the gift cards to use for your normal everyday purchases (groceries, gas, home repair stuff, clothing, eating out, etc.). It doesn’t have to cost you any extra, you simply need to plan ahead by purchasing gift cards ahead of time. Gifts cards also make great gifts! Order forms are available. Our first group order will be placed on Monday, November 9. So get your orders turned in to the CWAA office! You can pay by cash or cheque made out to Chinook Winds Adventist Academy. You also have the option of ordering gift cards online – so you can even let friends and relatives living in other parts of Canada know about this great opportunity! For more information about this fundraiser and to access the order form, click the FundScrip Logo below to go to

Chaplain’s Message:

As winter draws closer, we are beginning to get some snow here in Calgary. Snow is amazingly white. It covers a lot of ugliness on the ground and makes it look clean and beautiful. That is kind of like what God’s grace does for us. “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18 ESV). What better time than now to ask God to make us white like snow so that we can reflect the pure love of God to those around us!
