CWAA Breeze Newsletter November 14-18, 2016

CHARACTER VALUE OF THE MONTH: For the month of November the school is emphasizing the character value of Self Control.

Grade 7 – Grade 12

  • November 15        Report Cards will be sent home
  • November 17        Parent/Student-Teacher Conferences held from 4 pm – 8 pm

Secondary Parents, we are excited to present to you an evening of Conferences with our teachers this Thursday, November 17. The purpose of these Conferences will be to provide time for parents & students to engage in meaningful discussions with teachers about learning successes and future goals. An improvement that we have added this year is our on-line sign-up to book all Interviews. You can access this by using the button below or you’ll find an access button on the home page of our website that will take you there. We look forward to seeing you here!

STUDENT ATTENDANCE: To help the office have proper records of your child’s attendance please follow these procedures:

  • All students (elementary and secondary) who arrive after 8:30 a.m. should come through the main entrance doors and stop at the office to pick up a late slip. Students who arrive late and enter through the side doors already have their attendance recorded as “Absent Unexcused”. Attendance corrections are done at the office as the student picks up a slip.
  • Please inform the office when your child will be absent from school by e-mailing or calling the office. Your child’s attendance will be excused from record keeping done at the office and teachers will see a comment giving the reason why. If you’re e-mailing the teacher the office still needs to hear from you so that an excused absence can be given.

ANNUAL CAREER FAIR AT CWAA: On Wednesday, November 16, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. our Grade 10-12 students will be provided with the opportunity to explore various careers at CWAA. Our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Kelloway, has arranged to have numerous professionals from within our Calgary community set-up booths in our gymnasium and speak to students about potential career opportunities. Last year we were blessed to have the participation of 14 professionals from the following sectors: business, dentist, lawyer, dental hygiene, psychology, youth pastor, social worker, flight attendant, baker, educator, engineer, actor, construction and accounting. Here are some pictures from last year’s Career Fair. We look forward to seeing how God will use this special afternoon to bless our students with His direction and guidance!

Chaplain’s Message:

People find unity and community in many things: hobbies, styles of music, support for certain sports teams, social causes, and even their agreement or disagreement with certain political philosophies and candidates. As followers of Jesus, we are called to “togetherness” under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. As we develop an ever closer relationship with Jesus, may we also grow together in Christian unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ!

“To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:2–3, ESV)
