CWAA GETS DIRTY! ALL parents are invited to join our students and staff in a fantastic community service opportunity at GROW CALGARY! On Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12 our students & staff will be given the opportunity to spend two hours helping “Grow Calgary” plant seeds, water & weed! Grow Calgary is Canada’s largest urban agricultural farm located right down the road from us (behind the big parking lot beside the Victory Bible College)! The goal of Grow Calgary is to plant and grow fresh produce for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank to ensure all Calgarians have access to healthy, local food. This year Grow Calgary has a goal of planting 5-6 million seeds this season, starting in May so our volunteer time will be useful in helping Grow Calgary reach their goal this year! We will be the first school group to come this year! (For more information about Grow Calgary, you can visit Our proposed schedule for our students/staff/parents is as follows: Monday, May 11, Grades 7-9 from 10:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. and Grades K-3 students from 12:50 – 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, Grades 10-12 from 10:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. and Grades 4-6 students from 12:50 – 3:10 p.m. Students/staff/parent volunteers will be transported to/from the community garden by bus. If you would like to volunteer with your child’s teachers, please let us know! We will need parent volunteers for this community service to ensure we meet our 1:8 adult/student ratio. Parents with young siblings are also welcome to come! Come out on May 11 & 12 and get your hands dirty in God’s great soil and make a huge difference!

CWAA IS LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER CARPOOL COORDINATOR – CWAA is looking for a parent volunteer to coordinate carpooling opportunities for the families of CWAA for the 2015-2016 school year. The Carpool Coordinator is responsible for 1) receiving applications from interested families and keeping track of the information provided by families, 2) passing information on to interested families in the same areas, and 3) updating the list as families connect. The Carpool Coordinator is not responsible for arranging carpooling between families. This is the responsibility of the individual families. If you are interested in becoming a Carpool Coordinator, please contact Mrs. Melashenko ( for more information!

SECONDARY WEEK OF PRAYER: Secondary students here at CWAA had the privilege of participating in a week of prayer last week. Since last week was a four day school week, we had four week of prayer programs. Each day, one of the students from the Preaching and Worship Leadership Class gave the talk. Moises on Tuesday, Boris on Wednesday, Cesar on Thursday and Felicia on Friday. It was great to hear some of our own students sharing from God’s word! The worship songs were led by Grade 8 students on one day, Grade 11 students on another, and by members of the Worship Music Team on the other two days. Students also had the opportunity to participate in several prayer activities throughout the week. On Friday, students were given pieces of paper with several options that they could check off related to things like prayer, spirituality, and being baptized. Three students indicated that they would like to be baptized. Approximately 16 students indicated that they would like to study the Bible. Praise the Lord for working on the hearts of our students! Please keep our school in your prayers as we seek to point students to a living relationship with Jesus!

MISSION TRIP COMMISIONING: The 2015 CWAA Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic is just around the corner! We fly out early on the morning of March 29 and return on April 9. I want to extend a special invitation to our CWAA family to participate in our trip preparation in a very special way.   This Sunday afternoon (March 22) there will be a special time of commissioning here at CWAA from 5 PM to 6 PM. You are invited to stop by the school for that hour to join in a time of prayer and celebration for what God will do in the lives of our mission trip team members during the trip. Even if you don’t have a student going on the trip, plan to be here to show your support!

FINAL MISSION TRIP TRAINING MEETING: The final mission trip training meeting will take place this Sunday (March 22) from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM. This is a MANDATORY MEETING FOR ALL MISSION TRIP STUDENTS!

OLD LUGGAGE PIECES FOR MISSION TRIP: Do you have old luggage pieces taking up space in your home? Would you be willing to donate or loan suitcases/duffel bags to CWAA to be used for hauling mission trip supplies to the Dominican Republic? Please contact Pastor Brent Wilson if you are interested in helping the school out in this way.

Chaplain’s Message:

A theme that seemed to show up in many of the student sermons during our secondary week of prayer last week was the idea that even during challenging times, we can praise God. Do you believe that? The next time it seems like everything is going wrong for you, are you willing to take a little time out to praise and worship God for who He is?

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39 ESV).
