Student-Led Week of Spiritual Emphasis
Last week our school held our Spring Student-Led Week of Spiritual Emphasis. In total 10 elementary students presented testimonies about why they believe in Jesus and 10 secondary students presented testimonies about the Reason for their Hope. At the conclusion of our week the students were given an opportunity to declare their intent or interest in following Jesus & receiving studies for baptism. We praise God that dozens of our students asked for Bible studies to know more about Jesus and 29 of our students requested baptism. We praise God for the way in which He is raising up a generation of believers and followers in Jesus Christ at CWAA.
Agape Love by Caleb, Grade 10 Student
What gives me hope is that God is love. 1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Love is the main and important characteristic of God.
There are 3 types of love: Phileo, Eros, and Agape. Phileo means brotherly love, affection or fondness. Eros means the common love between a man and woman. Agape love is God’s kind of love. Agape love is steadfast and unchanging. It comforts us when we are having trouble. It is revealed to us through Jesus Christ and poured into us through the Holy Spirit. Agape love compels us to love one another. It is personal, unconditional and everlasting. Agape love turns something that seems hopeless into something that is great. Agape love is freely given to us by Jesus and is only understood if we know Jesus Christ.
If you experience agape love you start to have hope again and see miracles when you understand and feel the agape love. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” When you understand agape love, you spend time with God and you become His son and daughter. You get to know God’s personality and allow Him to change you fully. And you make your choice to love Him back. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
I Believe in Jesus Because.. by Ashton, Grade 2 Student
I got to know Jesus because I go to church with my Mommy and Daddy. I also learn a lot from school. My Nana and Papa also teach me about Jesus. I believe in Jesus because He died on the cross for me and took all my sins away. He also wants to be my friend and I want to be His friend, too.
