Principal’s Message:

Beauty from Ashes!

If you are anything like me, you will agree that allowing our children to make their own choices is a tough exercise! It is especially difficult to allow our children to make choices that we do not agree with! I am always amazed at God’s patience with us as we make our own choices – as adults and children. Sometimes we make choices that are in alignment with His will and sometimes we make choices that are contrary to His will. And yet, regardless, God is grace-filled to work with us and help redeem our poor choices. I remember as a 16-year-old young girl receiving a letter from my dad in the mail. At the time I received the letter I had quit Grade 11, moved away from home and was working at a Mac’s Convenience store to make enough money to pay my basic expenses. My choice was to leave home so I could live a life of independence from my parents. My choice was excruciatingly painful for my parents to watch. In his letter, my dad outlined that God had many plans for my life – perhaps they were entitled “Plan A”, “Plan B” and “Plan C”. He, dad described that perhaps Plan A was God’s ideal and Plans B and C were God’s alternative paths. My father explained that regardless of my chosen path, God had carefully prepared solutions to each of my choices in which I had made contrary to His will. I will never forget the flavor of grace in my father’s letter. I can truly testify that God has remained faithful in bringing beauty from the ashes of my poor choices – as a young woman and as an adult! I praise Him that as I have made my own choices He has always affirmed His love for me, strengthening my dependence on Him and opening my eyes to His ultimate choices for my life. I praise God that He can bring victory and purpose out of any choice. As we parent our children and allow them to make their own choices, it is my prayer that we will share the truth of God’s grace – that God will always walk alongside them, regardless of their choices. God will never leave them alone and He will never stop loving them and extending forgiveness! May we remind our children that there are no choices that God cannot redeem! “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield.” Psalms 91:4

Chaplain’s Message:

The instructions of the Lord are perfect,

reviving the soul.

The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,

making wise the simple.

The commandments of the Lord are right,

bringing joy to the heart.

The commands of the Lord are clear,

giving insight for living.

Reverence for the Lord is pure,

lasting forever.

The laws of the Lord are true;

each one is fair.

They are more desirable than gold,

even the finest gold.

They are sweeter than honey,

even honey dripping from the comb.

They are a warning to your servant,

a great reward for those who obey them.

(Psalm 19:7-11 NLT)

In this Psalm, David portrays several great benefits of God’s word. David valued the word of God dearly! As we take time to “Be Still,” may we learn to treasure God’s word more and more in our own lives. May His word be sweeter than honey to us!
