FOOD BANK FRIDAY – FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27 (LAST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH)

TERRY FOX RUN HOT LUNCH – A hot lunch will be provided following the Terry Fox Run this Friday for students and staff who wish to purchase it. The menu is 2 slices of cheese pizza, carrot sticks and broccoli with ranch dressing, a juice box and an ice cream sandwich for $5 per person. TERRY FOX RUN – All parents, students and interested community members are invited to join CWAA in participating in The Terry Fox National School Run Day at CWAA on Friday, September 27 from 11:00 – 1:20 p.m. Be part of one of the biggest displays of solidarity against cancer on the planet…while setting an example of compassion, fostering school spirit, encouraging physical activity, and having fun! Our school goal this year will be to raise $3,000. If every teacher and student donates $15 to the Terry Fox Foundation we will more than meet our goal! Donations can be made online or with paper pledge sheets. As an incentive for classes to work together, the class that raises the most money (above their minimum quota) will WIN a pizza party! To learn more about Terry Fox, go to www.terryfox.org or email Pastor Brent Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CALGARY CORN MAZE FIELD TRIP FOR GRADES K – 4 on Thursday, October 10th – The classes will be leaving by school bus at 8:45 a.m. and will return to school at 3:10 p.m. We will be outdoors for the whole day so we request that your child be dressed appropriately for the weather. Parent volunteers that have a police check on file at the office are welcome to join us. Please notify your child’s homeroom teacher if you are able to come. Attached below is the Parent Consent form. Please return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, October 4th.
MORNING ROUTINE & LATE STUDENTS – This is a reminder to all parents and students that students who are dropped off between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. should go directly to the supervised Homework Room (Elementary Students) or Secondary Hallway (Junior and Senior High Students). Teachers hold class devotions (worship and prayer) from 8:30 – 8:40 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. are considered late and must check-in at the office and receive a late slip prior to entering their classroom. Each late is recorded in our student information system. Please note: Students should not be dropped off prior to 7:00 a.m. or picked up later than 5:15 p.m. unless involved in sports/music practices OR registered in the Before/After School Care Program.
QUIET ZONES – To provide the best learning environment for our students, and to encourage independence and responsibility in our students we request all parents exit the elementary and secondary hallways by 8:30 a.m. (unless you are volunteering in a classroom) and wait in the main lobby until the 3:15 p.m. bell has rung.
SHOES FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN – We have exciting news to report! Our second shoe bin is nearly filled up! Let’s see if we can fill a third! All shoes will be shipped to Kenya in November 2013. We are excited to help children in Kenya walk to school this year in a comfortable, clean pair of shoes! Thanks CWAA!
PRAYING PARENTS meet every Thursday morning in the lobby right after school starts. Please come to pray for our children, staff and school here at CWAA. If you have any questions you can contact Sonia Harton at email@example.com.

The 2013 CWAA Terry Fox Run is taking place this Friday. This is a great opportunity to work together in support of cancer research. This is also a great time to be reminded that our lives are like running a race. What is our focus in the race of life? What is our goal? What challenges do we face as we run this life-race? Where do we get strength?
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1–2 ESV)
