CWAA Breeze Newsletter September 19-23, 2016

SCHOOL BOARD INVITE: Our first Board meeting is held tonight, Monday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. All are invited to come and enjoy the fellowship of our committed School Board team of leaders and to participate in our school operations and strategic planning.

“WHO DO YOU TELL” GRADES K-6 PARENT IN-SERVICE: Please join us on Wednesday, September 28 at 6:30 p.m. to receive information about the “Who Do You Tell” Program at CWAA starting October 13. Come out, learn and ask questions. The session will be held in Room 24 (previously the Library).

2016 CWAA TERRY FOX RUN: The 2016 Terry Fox Run at CWAA will take place during the school day on Thursday, September 29. The money raised from this event will go to the Terry Fox Foundation and will help with cancer research. The goal is to raise $2500 as a school for this great cause. There is no minimum amount that a student must raise in order to be a part of the run, but please try raising something! If every one of our students raised $15 we would exceed the fundraising goal for our school! So start asking people you know to support this great cause. Students can set up an online donation page and donors can donate online (go to Cash and cheque donations will also be accepted (make sure the cheque is made out to The Terry Fox Foundation, not CWAA). To access a Pledge sheet that can be printed, click the link below. Donations of $20 or more are eligible to receive a tax receipt if the proper donor information is provided to the Terry Fox Foundation. If you have questions please contact Pastor Brent Wilson or at 403-286-5686. Have fun as you Let HIS Light Shine! by raising money to help with cancer research. Thank you!

PRAYER PARENTS: It has been refreshing and encouraging to carve out time to be together and pray over specific requests for our school and community. A small group of parents formed this group in September of 2014 and we have prayed consistently for our staff, student body and different projects and events involving CWAA.  We have seen and heard of so many answered prayers. We meet every Thursday morning after drop off in the school lobby. Upcoming dates are September 22 and 29. We invite you to join us weekly for prayer.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE: The hours of the Before/After School Care Program are 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. (Monday – Friday) and 3:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) and 1:45 – 3:30 p.m. (Friday).  Before and After School Care cost is $5.00 per hour.   We ask that all interested families officially register their children in the program at the school office.

FOOD BANK FRIDAY (LAST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH):  The last Friday of every month is a casual dress day for all students and teachers at Chinook Winds. We ask that each student and staff bring a canned or non-perishable food item to be donated to the Calgary Food Bank. Next Food Bank Friday is September 30.

2017 CWAA MISSION TRIP: The 2017 CWAA Mission Trip to Bolivia will take place from March 26 to April 6, 2017 (during the CWAA Spring Break). The trip is open to CWAA students in grades 10 to 12. Chaplain’s Message:

“God is real. He is real in the absolute and final sense that nothing else is. All other reality is contingent upon His. The great Reality is God, the Author of that lower and dependent reality which makes up the sum of created things, including ourselves.” (A. W. Tozer and James L. Snyder, Tozer on Worship and Entertainment: Selected Excerpts (Camp Hill, Pa.: WingSpread, 1997), 32).

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14, NIV).

Our God is greater than any created thing! And yet He cares about each one of us more than we can even imagine!
