CWAA Breeze Newsletter November 9-13, 2015

CWAA NOVEMBER CHARACTER VALUE: Protect Others

CAUGHT YOU WITH CHARACTER (SelfControl): During the month of October we have been emphasizing the character of God – Self-Control (“Learn the truth and never reject it. Get wisdom, self-control and understanding.” Proverbs 23:23). As a school staff we have been sharing with our students how God has given us the ability to control our desires and actions and we have intentionally ‘caught’ students who have engaged in showing self-control! This month we are excited to recognize Pranay Jonahs (Grade 5 student) and Jalil Ferary (Grade 7 student) for the month of October. To recognize these two students, we have displayed the young men’s pictures along with an introduction and the specific acts of self-control on the bulletin boards in our hallways. During the month of November we will be focusing on the character of God – Protecting Others. (“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Defend the rights of all those who have nothing.” Proverbs 31:8)

READING PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS: The Library is looking for parent volunteers to help students from Grades 1 to 6 to read. Volunteers are asked to spend 15-30 minutes with each student once a week. Volunteers are also required to have a valid police check. CWAA can assist volunteers with obtaining police checks. If you have any questions or you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please email hhoffmann@nullcwaa.net.

PRAYING PARENTS: Please join our Praying Parents this Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. in the lobby. All are welcome for a time of praise and prayer.

FUNDSCRIP GIFT CARD MISSION TRIP FUNDRAISER: March 2017 may sound like a long time from now. But it will go by fast! Plans are already being made for the 2017 CWAA Mission Trip. More specific details about the trip will be announced soon. Now is certainly a great time for students to begin fundraising. Our primary fundraiser is going to be selling gift cards through FundScrip. Basically, we sell gift cards at face value and then receive a percentage of that amount back from FundScrip to go toward the mission trip. You can buy the gift cards to use for your normal everyday purchases (groceries, gas, home repair stuff, clothing, eating out, etc.). It doesn’t have to cost you any extra, you simply need to plan ahead by purchasing gift cards ahead of time. Gift cards also make great gifts! Order forms are available. The next group order deadline is Monday, November 23. Get your orders turned in to the CWAA office with cash or cheque made out to Chinook Winds Adventist Academy. For more information about this fundraiser and to access the order form, click the FundScrip Logo below to go to missiontrip.cwaa.net/fundraising/.

Chaplain’s Message:

“Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him.” (Ellen White, Steps to Christ, p. 93).
