Chaplain’s Message:

The spiritual theme here at CWAA this school year is “Thrive.” Each of us can be like a strong healthy tree with roots strongly anchored in God’s word and branches reaching out in Christian love to the people around us. Psalm 1 describes a righteous person who doesn’t go along with the wicked, but instead delights to meditate on God’s law. “He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers” (Psalm 1:3 ESV). The picture presented here in this verse is of a tree that is planted and well cared for. The Hebrew word for “planted” is in the passive, indicating that this tree didn’t just plant itself. Someone or something planted it. It’s location seems intentional – next to a water source. And even the water source itself seems intentional – the Hebrew word for “streams” can indicate canals or man-made water channels. This tree is growing strong with significant help from someone outside of itself. It is that way with us too. When we seek to follow God and spend time in His word, He will plant us and provide the spiritual water and nutrients that we need to THRIVE!
