Chaplain’s Message:

“But Joseph refused. ‘Look,’ he told her, ‘my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.’” (Genesis 39:8-9 NLT).

When Potiphar’s wife tempted Joseph, He chose to be faithful to both his master and to His God! But Joseph’s faithfulness was not a guarantee that his life would always be easy. In spite of his faithfulness, he faced challenges in his life – he had been sold as a slave by his brothers, he was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and jailed. He was seemingly forgotten for 2 years by the king’s cup-bearer. But later, Joseph was able to look back and acknowledge that God had a plan for good:

“But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.” (Genesis 45:5-8 NLT).

As we seek to live a life of faithfulness to God and humanity, may we remember that it was God who was faithful first. He has been faithful in our past. He is faithful today. He will continue to be faithful in the future. No matter the challenges and difficulties that we face, may we remember that God is faithful through everything. May we trust that even when we don’t understand why difficult things are happening, that God has a plan for good! May we reflect faithfulness in our own lives!
