2015-16 CWAA RE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Please have your registration packages in to the office by this Friday, March 27.

EARLY DISMISSAL AT NOON THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 27 TO BEGIN SPRING BREAK.  CLASSES WILL RESUME MONDAY, APRIL 13.  Have a great Spring Break!

GRADE 9 CLASS FUNDRAISER: On Tuesday, March 17 the Grade 9 class will be selling “Baked Goods & Frozen Treats” for prices of $0.25 to $1.50 depending on the treat.  The Grade 9’s will be selling every Tuesday to the Elementary and every Tuesday & Thursday to the Jr. & Sr. High students.  This will help the class raise funds for their Year End Celebration. Thank you for your support!

CWAA GETS DIRTY! ALL parents are invited to join our students and staff in a fantastic community service opportunity at GROW CALGARY! On Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12 our students & staff will be given the opportunity to spend two hours helping “Grow Calgary” plant seeds, water & weed! Grow Calgary is Canada’s largest urban agricultural farm located right down the road from us (behind the big parking lot beside the Victory Bible College)! The goal of Grow Calgary is to plant and grow fresh produce for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank to ensure all Calgarians have access to healthy, local food. This year Grow Calgary has a goal of planting 5-6 million seeds this season, starting in May so our volunteer time will be useful in helping Grow Calgary reach their goal this year! We will be the first school group to come this year! (For more information about Grow Calgary, you can visit www.growcalgary.ca/.) Our proposed schedule for our students/staff/parents is as follows: Monday, May 11, Grades 7-9 from 10:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. and Grades K-3 students from 12:50 – 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, Grades 10-12 from 10:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. and Grades 4-6 students from 12:50 – 3:10 p.m. Students/staff/parent volunteers will be transported to/from the community garden by bus. If you would like to volunteer with your child’s teachers, please let us know! We will need parent volunteers for this community service to ensure we meet our 1:8 adult/student ratio. Parents with young siblings are also welcome to come! Come out on May 11 & 12 and get your hands dirty in God’s great soil and make a huge difference!

OLD LUGGAGE PIECES FOR MISSION TRIP: Do you have old luggage pieces taking up space in your home? Would you be willing to donate or loan suitcases/duffel bags to CWAA to be used for hauling mission trip supplies to the Dominican Republic? Please contact Pastor Brent Wilson if you are interested in helping the school out in this way.

CWAA MUSIC TOUR: The CWAA Music Tour to Winnipeg will include students in Grade 7-12 Concert Choir and Band members.  The tour will take place from May 13 to May 18 and will include stops in Medicine Hat, Regina, Portage la Prairie, Moose Jaw and Swift Current.  We are excited that we get to give concerts to new audiences and see parts of Canada that we don’t often get to see.  There are 6 concerts on our itinerary and we know that many people will be blessed as a result of the music that we will share.

Mrs. Miranda is looking for volunteers to join the group as chaperones for this trip.  If you are interested in going please contact her ASAP.   All volunteers must have a valid criminal record check on file at CWAA. If you require a letter to request this please notify the school office.

SEEK AND SERVE MINISTRY WILL NOT BE HELD DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL. MEETINGS WILL RESUME IN MAY.

Chaplain’s Message:

In the Biblical narrative of Genesis 31, when Jacob and Laban were about to part ways they went through a bit of a ceremony.  During that ceremony, the following words were spoken: “The Lord watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight” (Genesis 31:49 ESV). As we are nearing Spring Break here at CWAA, may the Lord watch between each of us while we are apart.  May He help us to be faithful and give us safety and rest during this break.

I will be part of a group of 40 people travelling to the Dominican Republic on the 2015 CWAA Mission Trip, which is a short-term mission project arranged between Chinook Winds Adventist Academy and Maranatha.  I would like to invite you to pray for our group while we are on this trip.  There is a prayer guide available that will give you some specific ideas of what you can be praying for each day of our trip.
