Sports Update

Congratulations to both the Jr Boys and Jr Girls Basketball Teams for triumphant victories in the grade 8/9 CISAA Basketball League.

The Jr Girls Cyclones cruised to a 48 – 20 victory over Calgary Waldorf School on February 12th.  The team took its cue from their MVP captain Isabelle Ison and showed tremendous growth and development over the entire season.  This was a repeat victory for Chinook Winds as they were also the 1J Girls 2014 Champions.

The Jr Boys Cyclones went into the playoffs in second place and had a hard played game against Calgary Waldorf in the semi-finals proving victorious and earning the right to compete for Gold against Rundle Academy.

The Gold medal game was filled with exciting action at both ends of the court.  The game went into Overtime – not once but twice.  At the end of Double Overtime it was the Cyclones who came away with a 45-40 victory and the second banner for Basketball this year.

A special thank you to all the student athletes, coaches, parents and fans for supporting the Basketball Program.

CWAA IS LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER CARPOOL COORDINATOR – CWAA is looking for a parent volunteer to coordinate carpooling opportunities for the families of CWAA for the 2015-2016 school year. The Carpool Coordinator is responsible for 1) receiving applications from interested families and keeping track of the information provided by families, 2) passing information on to interested families in the same areas, and 3) updating the list as families connect. The Carpool Coordinator is not responsible for arranging carpooling between families. This is the responsibility of the individual families. Chaplain’s Message

“. . . man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 8:3 ESV).

In our modern world, it seems that there are a lot of things that keep us busy and take up our time. Our jobs, schoolwork, hobbies, families, friends and entertainment seem to leave us with little “extra” time. How often do we ignore the fact that in order to truly live, we need to prioritize God’s word in our lives? This is certainly something that I struggle with. And I have no doubt that many of us face this challenge. May you and I both make God’s word the priority that it should be in the time that we have this week!
