CWAA ANTI-BULLYING AWARENESS WEEK: February 6 – 10 CWAA is proud to be participating in a week of Anti-Bullying Awareness. We are participating in this important event because we know our school (just like any other school) is not immune to bullying and we can make a difference through education and awareness. Because bullying is a community issue (and not solely a school problem) we invite all community members (parents, pastors, community partners) to join us. We intend to use this week to build relationships among our students, educate our community (students and parents) about bullying behaviors and how to stop bullying, and engage in acts of compassion. In addition to the events on the following days, classes will be paired up to build relationships during homeroom devotions, PE classes, LA classes and RS classes to study the Bible, read and talk together. Additionally each class (K-12) will be spending time during the week addressing various aspects of bullying.
Our daily events include:
- Monday (8:30 am – 8:45 am) – Kick-off Assembly & “Fill a Bucket” Campaign Day
- Tuesday – Stand Up! to Bullying Chapel, Dress in “White Day” (student and staff will dress in white as an act of solidarity for safety & purity), Random Complements Day
- Wednesday – Free Hugs Day & Candi-grams
- Thursday – Anti-Bullying Graffiti Wall
- Thursday (6:30 pm) – Parent Seminar: “Bullying – What Parents Need to Know and Do” by Dr. Scheila Cordazzo (Registered Psychologist, Eckert Psychology & Education Centre)
- Friday – Wrap-Up Anti-Bullying Pledge Assembly (1:00 – 1:20 pm)
Parents, join us in pray as we use these events to continue building a culture of respect and compassion at CWAA! Please take the time to speak with your children about this important topic and plan to attend the Parent Seminar this Thursday evening at 6:30 pm.

CWAA COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT SHARED BY MRS. BUHIA: “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Gonna Let it Shine!” This year at CWAA our spiritual theme has been to “Shine Our Light”. With that in mind our 1st Grade Class has come up with different ways that we can shine our lights by being a good friend and neighbor to those that sit beside us in our class as well as to others in our community. Throughout the school year we do small in-school projects and we’re excited to go out and do something for our community. On a chilly Wednesday morning on the 23rd of November, our 1st grade class went on our very first, big community service project. We loaded the school bus and were ready to shine our lights, GOD’s light, to our neighbors at Wentworth Manor, a nearby nursing home. Once at the nursing home, the students led out and presented a short mini-concert sharing songs about Jesus. The grade one students also spent some time reading to the residents as well as leaving them with a little craft sharing the Bible text: “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” Mark 5:6. It’s a blessing to watch the students grow and develop with a love for service. May the fire that is being kindled in them now continue to burn until Jesus comes!
CWAA OPEN HOUSE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2017 FROM 5-8 PM: We are excited about the future and would like to invite all interested families and students to attend our Annual Open House on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. This Open House event is intended for our current families to bring new, interested families to check CWAA out. ALBERTA EDUCATION ACCOUNTABILITY PILLAR SURVEY: It’s that time of year where Alberta Education is seeking your input about the education we are delivering at CWAA! From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting its annual “Accountability Pillar Survey”. The Accountability Pillar Survey assesses various aspects of quality; student outcomes, provincial assessments of student learning, community engagement and satisfaction, school experience, etc. Within the next few weeks, all CWAA parents will receive a survey from Alberta Education in the mail. In February, CWAA students and all teachers will be completing their surveys online at school. All surveys are anonymous. In addition to English and French, the parent survey is available in Chinese, Punjabi, Arabic, Blackfoot, Cree, Korean, Spanish and Tagalog. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving at CWAA, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly. Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2017. Thank you for your participation in this important process!
PRAYING PARENTS: Come join this group for prayer this Thursday morning, February 9th, in the school lobby. They meet on Thursdays to pray for our school, our staff, our students and our families. All are welcome!

What has God done for you today? How has He blessed you? How has He taken care of you? Have you taken some time to think about all that He has done for you? “If we would but think of God as often as we have evidence of His care for us we should keep Him ever in our thoughts and should delight to talk of Him and to praise Him” (Steps to Christ, p. 102).
