Principal’s Message:

The Light in Our Darkness

When I was a young child I was afraid of driving in a vehicle at night. The lights of oncoming cars blinded me and it frightened me that we might crash. Yet my dad seemed to be completely unaffected by the blinding lights. He never seemed to be afraid of anything while driving in the dark. I was convinced that my dad had special eyes.

The Bible says that when God created the earth, He created the sun (light) so His creatures could see and be productive during the day and He created the darkness (night) so His creatures could rest. God did not design us to live in complete darkness. Yet when sin entered the world, humans became covered in spiritual darkness. When Eve believed the words of the serpent, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5, and then she ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, she fell into total spiritual darkness. She no longer could see God’s pure and beautiful heart and character. And ever since that time, the human family has struggled to see God for who He really is. Satan has continued to lie to humans about God – to convince them that God cannot be trusted and that He does not have humans’ best interest at heart. Satan has distorted God’s character and love.

God knows every single one of us intimately. He knows our personal darkness – our unseen thoughts and actions, what we try hide from all other humans. And He longs that all of us should be brought into the light – the truth of His character and love. He sent Jesus to earth, as the light of the world, to shows us a truthful picture of God’s love and intentions – “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) God longs to give us peace, forgiveness and freedom. He longs for us to know His intentions and His love. He longs to teach us about His truth character and how we can live with integrity, joy, and hope. But we first must recognize that we are in darkness and be willing to seek the Light of Life, Jesus Christ. Just like I believed my dad had special eyes to see the light in the darkness, I believe Jesus has special abilities to help us navigate in the dark and safely return Home. May we embrace Truth and live in the Light!

Chaplain’s Message:

Next week (March 5 to 9) is the second Week In Spiritual Emphasis (WISE) of the school year! This WISE will feature two student speakers each day! The elementary students will be focusing on the theme of “Why I Believe In Jesus” and the secondary students will be focusing on the theme of how God takes the pieces of our hopeless moments and creates something beautiful and hopeful from those pieces. Please pray that God’s Holy Spirit will move in a powerful way here at CWAA next week! Pray for me and the students who are helping with planning and preparing for next week. And please pray for the student speakers as they think about what they will share and prepare to share with their peers.
